Wir fliegen rund zwei Stunden den Anden entlang Richtung Süden. Der Flug ist einmal mehr herrlich... wir fliegen entlang der Salar de Atacama und sehen nun noch alles aus der Vogelperspektive - ein wirklich schöner Teil Chiles! In Santiago gelandet, nehmen wir unser neues Mietauto entgegen und fahren direkt an die Pazifikküste, nach Valparaiso. Valparaiso zählt knapp 300'000 Einwohner und ist die bedeutendste Hafenstadt des Landes. Unser B&B liegt in Playa Ancha, einer der vielen Cerros...

Calama in the Atacama Desert is one of the driest cities in the world with average annual precipitation of just 5 mm. We are now on 2,260 metres. Calama is not a touristic place and the most interesting place to visit is Chuquicamata; it is the largest open pit copper mine in the world. The pit is 4.3 km long, 3 km wide and over 1 km deep (pic. 1). We book a tour which is perfectly organised by the operating mine company COLDECO.
