Wir fliegen für 50 Franken pro Person von La Paz nach Sucre. Dies erspart uns eine 12-stündige Busfahrt in die offizielle Hauptstadt Boliviens. Sucre liegt auf 'nur' 2850 müM und wir können seit langer Zeit wieder mal Flipflops tragen. Hier ist es merklich milder als auf dem Altiplano. Sucre - nicht Zucker - sondern benannt nach dem General Sucre. Sie wird auch 'die weisse Stadt' genannt. Die Kolonialbauten sind wirklich alle in weiss gehalten und die Stadt lässt uns aufatmen. We enter Bolivia on land. The border crossing is fast and without any delay. La Paz city sits in a bowl surrounded by the high mountains of the altiplano (pic. 1). As it grew, the city of La Paz climbed the hills, resulting in varying elevations from 3,200 to 4,100 m. Our hotel is very close to the bus station and we pay the taxi driver way too much for the short drive. As there aren't any 'must sees and dos' for us in the city, we flee to the countryside again.
